I did love this book! It is packed full of action, faith, mystery and once you start it, you do not want to put it down. Brown brings back the beloved charactors, Zack and Diane from his former books, “Treason”, “Hostage” and “Defiance”! Everything Mr Brown writes will keep yours attention and each chapter draws you to the next chapter. The end brought tears to my eyes and chills at the same time.

It’s the Fourth of July, and rather fitting that I’ve just turned the final page of Don Brown’s new geopolitical thriller, The Malacca Conspiracy, as the book has a decidedly patriotic feel. With our nation’s capital, Washington, DC, as one-quarter of the exotic, landscape quartet along with the far-flung destinations of Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia, Mr. Brown has the reader traveling the globe without ever having to leave the comfort of her bedroom slippers.
And true to form, the rockets glare and the fireworks explode off each page of this novel leaving me satiated, but still wanting more. From reading all five of Mr. Brown’s novels, I have discovered that he is the master of the plot, moving the story along seamlessly with grace and detail, and the skill of the masters of his time. He had me chomping at the bit to know what was going to happen next.

The book has something for everyone. With a flair for the dramatic and penchant for sniffing out percolating controversy, Don Brown keeps the reader on the edge of his seat. Gentleman readers will love the high-stakes action and the geopolitical implications. Although the author has a knack for seeing the future having predicted the 2008 shooting war between Russia and Georgia in his novel, Black Sea Affair, I hope his crystal ball is on the fritz this time around, and our country is safe from the any of his fictional fireworks.

As for the ladies, don’t be fooled by political and military undertones. The author has brought back two popular characters from his first three books in The Navy Justice Series, Zack Brewer and Diane Colcernian, and the sexual tension between the two sizzles like the burgers and dogs on your grill. Happy 4th and enjoy this and all four other Don Brown novels.

I’ve used this product for over 6 months now but this is my first time buying a 10lb bag. The 3 star rating is there because of amazon’s slow shipping. It said “shipping soon” for 5 days now and so I’m pretty sure T’m going to get this item in a week. This is a big step back as opposed to my previous experience with amazon, which my product came in a total of 3 days.

I want to start by saying, I rated this 4 stars because it has artificial sweeteners and I wish it didn’t. That said, I think the calorie count is so good because of the sweeteners and I will continue to drink ON 100% Whey. I use this after a weight workout and find I am less sore when I drink it within 30-45 minutes. I also use it, in a milk shake, to help get my protein up for a day.
My favorite, this week, is Double Chocolate, but I also love, love, love the Tropical Punch. I mix 4 oz cold water with 4 oz orange juice and the Tropical Punch and it tastes like Hawaiian Punch (the texture is a little thicker, though). This is the best tasting protein powder I’ve tried. It is smooth and tastes just like chocolate milk in skim milk. I also put it in sugar free almond milk (40 cals/8 oz) and it tastes very good. It’s a different flavor and makes a delicious milk shake when mixed with 4 oz almond milk and 4-5 oz ice cubes. My daughter likes it in soy milk, but I don’t do soy, so can’t say how good/bad it may be.

I don’t love it in water, but like it a whole lot better than other powders I’ve tried in water. This is yummy, if you aren’t sure what flavor to get, I would recommend any of the chocolates, or, if you can find it, the Variety Pack.

I use my magic bullet to make a caramel drink with this syrup. I fill the magic bullet container about 3/4 with ice cubes; add water saving enough space in the cup to add about 2 tablespoons of the caramel syrup, 2 teaspoons of calorie free sugar and a teaspoon of coffee. For some reason, it tastes so much better drinking it from a straw.

Run it in the Magic Bullet and I have a calorie free drink that is great tasting. I hate to admit it, but I use about 2 bottles per week. I really love this syrup. I also bought the chocolate calorie free syrup and would not recommend it. I am a chocolate lover beyond description, but there is something about the chocolate syrup that is not very good.

Love it. This is a really nice head. I’d bought an earlier model for my wife’s car, and when I chose to put one in my car I found it was discontinued. I took a chance on this head and have chosen NOT to tell my wife I like it better than her’s. I have described it as “exactly the same” or “no different.” Neither of these statements are true. This is a superb car stereo with a very logical system that doesn’t take long to master. I highly recommend it.

I just bought this CD receiver to replace the stock unit in my ‘05 civic. Amazon had the price down to $105 when I purchased it, making it one of the best values for quality CD receivers out there with USB capability. I mainly chose the Pioneer due to the solid reviews (many other brands out there have similar sub-$100 units, but they get regularly thrashed by buyers).

Did the installation myself, helps to buy an aftermarket dash unit (I used a Metra kit) so you can fit the unit in snugly and blend it in to the car. Very straightforward wiring, especially if you buy a wiring harness plug for your car model.

Plays off CDs, thumb drives, and most ipods pretty easily. Very nice to have the USB capability so I can play off a pocketable thumb drive, they are so much easier than CDs and you can get an 8GB for under $20 these days. My old-as-stink iPod turned out to not be compatible, but I’m not really all that torn up as I never use it anyway, and would rather just keep a flash drive with me or in the car. It integrated just fine with a friend’s iPhone and a more recent iPod. Controlling the iPod is not bad if you have organized playlists, but since you only have one display line, it’s not as nice as just using the iPod alone. And if that’s what you prefer, you can just use a 3.5mm headphone male/male cable in the AUX slot and plug any old iPod or mp3 player in, enjoy the easy interface – only upside of the USB slot is that it keeps the iPod charged for long journeys.

User interface, as might be expected, takes some getting used to. Expect a couple of trips or checks to the instruction manual before you remember how to adjust everything. There’s more buttons than your average car stereo, so it’s not super-intuitive like an iPod, but it’s simple enough to be automatic after a while. Also comes with a remote, which I haven’t used much, but the buttons are definitely more clear. It would be nice to maybe have two knobs (volume, tuning/adjustment), but I suppose there’s not really room in a single-DIN unit to make it sensible.

I’m no audiophile, but it sounds fine to me. Lots of adjustability in bass, mid, treble. Was playing with the radio just after I installed it, and it seemed a little more staticy than I remember. But might have just been me, I will have to find a way to test it more categorically. Was working in my driveway behind a stone wall, and to be honest I can’t even specifically remember plugging the antenna jack back in before fitting the dash back together, so who really knows.

I bought this as an update for my 2001 Honda Accord. I bought it even though it received mixed reviews. I got the head unit in its original Pioneer packaging with the wiring harness. The unit itself is heavy though I agree with a few of the other reviewers in that the buttons and ports feel a little cheap but they seem like they will be long-lasting. The unit also lets you pick what color you want the illumination to be (either red or green). The problem is that the way the light passes through the buttons makes it a little difficult to see from the side. I use the USB cable directly to the unit and it works great. You can browse your music right through the unit. You can switch from using the head unit to browse to the iPod through a setting on the unit itself. I haven’t used the audio jack to listen to music. The unit picks up the stations a lot better than the stock unit and the Pioneer actually makes my stock speakers sound 10000x better. I also installed the unit myself (which is a lot easier than people make it out to be) but I had purchased a converting harness to make the wiring a lot easier. Overall, I would definitely recommend the unit to others as a cheap, quick alternative to getting a higher end alternative.

I bought this so I could use the USB slot and it works great. It loads all the songs in about 2 seconds (even with a large thumb drive of 4 GB or more of music) and then there is no wait time when scrolling through tracks. It clearly displays the song title and you can adjust it to display the track by title, album, etc. I’m not a huge stereo person so I don’t care about amps and making my car vibrate, but I will say that my music plays clearly and I can turn it up much louder than I need too without my music being distorted in any way. The buttons are a little small, but you get used to them. I did plug my blackberry phone into the AUX port and it did play my songs. However, no information about the song was displayed on the stereo’s display and I had to control my music through the Blackberry, which is a pain. Luckily, I plan on using the USB slot, this is just an FYI for those of you who don’t have an ipod and wanted to know if other mp3 players could utilize the stereo’s controls. All in all this was a great value for the money and it does everything that I need it to do.

Just bought this tv 5 days ago and love it. I used to sell tv’s and best buy and circuit city. So i know how toshibas are. they might not be the tv with the most features but definitely you can’t beat the quality and price. I looked at many different sets and this one is just an awesome value. Are there better tv’s out there? yeah of course. But for the price you can’t beat it. It’s just awesome. The 120hz on this is very good. The black levels are awesome. It’s really thin for being a normal lcd thats in a midrange category.

This is three Toshibas that I own one is a 13 dvd combo 8 yrs old in my camper great little tv. The other a 26 lcd nice unit. This 46 is awesome great picture and decent sound. very stylish and light weight. My sony weighed in at 235lbs what a beast. /took Three big men to get it out of house. This toshiba has plenty of outputs for all your needs.

I have had my Toshiba TV for about a week now. It replaced an old RCA projection TV that was HD “ready” and actually had a decent picture in HD bur nothing like the newer tv’s I had seen. I was lucky enough to find the TV at Walmart for $699 plus tax with free shipping to my house. It was packaged very well with the factory carton inside a very heavy shipping carton. Delivery was by FedX. The TV is ready to place where you want it when you get it out of the shipping carton’s as the stand is already attached to the TV. While my wife put the batteries in the remote, I plugged it in and attached the HDMI cable from my Directv HD DVR and was ready to go.

After a short read of part of the manual, and determining that the picture setting should be on “native” for the best HD picture, we both were amazed at the picture quality. I went to the Direct web site and found the code to program into my Direct remote for the TV. The only issue, as has been discussed on several of the reviews, was after a short time, the remote stopped working until the TV was turned off and back on, and then everything worked OK for another bit, and then it did the same thing. I couldn’t get a lot of help from online sources but when reading the TV manual a little closer, found where it stated that some issues were possible with HDMI equipment connected to the TV. I began experimenting with the settings and finally found the one that solved the problem for me. It was the speed setting for the on /off on the TV. I set mine to the fast setting and have had no problem since. I think the other setting was constantly emitting a signal that interfered with the Direct receiver.

“One of the best values going for an HDTV” 2010-06-18

I bought this TV around Thanksgiving of 2009 for around $1k. At that time it was the best value by far for a 46″, 120hz HDTV. It can be bought today for $700 and for that price it is an outstanding deal. I just bought another one for our son as no other HDTV at that price point available today can match it for picture quality verses screen size.

The black levels for this set are about the best you can find in an LCD TV. The screen is low gloss which all but eliminates reflections. The menu has a wealth of settings and options. The picture quality is so good it almost looks like 3D.

This set is being closed out and can be had for a fantastic price. The fact it still competes so well with newer TVs while at the end of its manufacturing run shows just how good this HDTV is. If you are looking for a good deal then snatch one of these up before they are all gone.

“Cheap Plastic” 2010-07-06

We bought one of these then returned it only to find the next one had the same problem. The problem being that the front plastic around the screen is all shiny and black which is great unless there is an assembly mistake. Apparently it is assembled by snapping pieces together and for both the ones we tried some the snapping points were not snapped in (and could not be snapped in no matter what). What ended up happening was that the shiny black plastic was all warped so you get the clown mirror effect all around the TV. This may have been ok for some cheap Visio or something but not for the money we paid for this TV. I never even turned them on – maybe they are great, maybe not. But, they are made of cheap plastic and the assembly workers did a terrible job. We are going to return this again tomorrow and forget about LG from now on … you would think the part you see would be the part they actually try to make presentable.

I bought this TV from the big box retailer that constantly rolls back prices. The TV was actually cheaper than online. Overall I like the TV very much and I think the value proposition is excellent. My local Bestbuy had this TV on display.

I have three recommendations for people who are not technically inclined – like myself – and get this TV to utilize the TV’s full potential

1. Make sure you use an HDMI cable to connect this TV to your cable box. You need to make sure that your HDMI cable is at least version 1.3.

2. Get HD cable or satellite. Having HD channels makes a huge difference.
3. Make sure your cable box is set at 1080p output signal. Our cable box was set at a much lower picture quality and it took me a while to figure this out. Some cable boxes might adjust the output signal automatically, but not all do that.

If you follow these three simple steps you should be able to enjoy the full potential of the TV. Also, think about getting netflix and one of the blue ray players that allows you to stream netflix. The quality of some of the movies is just awesome.

My last recommendation is to get an additional warranty. LCD TVs seem to be more prone to failing than CRT TVs. There are huge differences in the cost of these additional warranties. So account for these differences in your comparisons when you shop around.

Great TV and a very responsive Amazon customer service after a troubling start.

I was extremely disappointed when I found a big dent on the back panel after I unpacked it from the box. It looked as if something big and sharp dropped on it. I hooked it up anyway and found the picture amazing despite the TV looked like something that should never have left the factory (the QA must be sleeping that day).

I wrote Amazon about it and within 24 hours, they took the initiative and ordered me a replacement unit and to be delivered within 3 days. The delivery crew was polite and helped me to disassemble my original TV to take it away in the original box. No hassle and no problem.

Great picture quality but the sound system is a bit on the low side. It also generates a lot of heat. Nevertheless, overall, this set is better than the other non-Samsung sets that I own.

I purchased this tv and must say the picture is really clear, However I can not figure out how to get to the 120 hz, when I hit the info button on the remote the tv displays only 1080i and 60 hz, do you need to have a blueray player to see the higher hz? also Netflix does not stream at all, it starts the movie well then restarts, I called Samsung (2) times to find out why I could not download the firmware update and tried several methods. I did find out through trial and error that Windows 7 stops you from extracting the downloaded file, I used my wifes XP machine downloaded the firmware from the Samsung sight then copied the file to a USB storage device then clicked on the usb devise in windows explorer, I right clicked it and extracted it on the USB drive, I then connected it to the TV and it worked.
I hope this helps someone. Samsung needs to be able to make all its TV function operate as advertized before I would recommend this set to anyone. I put the TV back in its box because I have a wager with my wife that I have to win before I get to use it. I hope by that time Samsung fixes the problems. I have a Wii and the netflix disk workes great so I know its not my network speed since I am directly connected to the TV.

Tivax HiRez7 Portable 7-Inch Digital Widescreen TV is a decent portable TV with a reasonable price. The ability to receive over the air digital signal is the main feature, and this TV managed to get most of the channels that I get from my other TV. The LCD quality/screen resolution is average (it’s nowhere near a phone/iPhone or a regular laptop/netbook LCD quality, but then again it doesn’t cost as much). The image Color and contrast are good however. And this TV is watched from a reasonable distance (i.e. not too close, like farther than 2 feet), the average quality LCD is not too noticeable. Overall, this is a good product with a decent price. In my opinion, this TV is positioned to be a value 7 inch TV screen, and I think they achieved it.

Pros:

1. Decent image color and contrast
2. Decent digital signal reception (but will vary depend on where you are)
3. Decent sound
4. Nice 7 inch screen (much better than 5 inch TVs/screen)
5. Battery last 2 hour (and can be extended with additional battery on docking)
6. Car adapter, external antenna, headphones and remote control included
7. Built in SD memory card reader, USB port, and TV stand

4. Reception is bad/unstable when the TV is placed in a non-stationary object (e.g. moving car), but this is universal to digital TV

I received this Tivax portable lcd tv not expecting the sound qualty to be very good but was very surprised when I first turned it on and the volume was at max. Wow it was so loud you could hear it from one end of the house to the other and could also understand what is being said. It certainly blows my netbook speakers out of the water.
Next I tested to see how long the battey life was and it seemed to last just over two hours so not bad for the size of the unit. It charged up fairly quick but did not time how long.

The on screen menu was very easy to navigate through unlike some others have mentioned. Maybe my version is newer and they updated the menus?

The remote is easy to use and buttons are logicaly placed. Sometimes I did have to push the button twice to make it work but may just be me.

If you should take it on the road it comes with a magnetic mountable antenna that you can put on the roof of your car and seems to work great. The reception of the digital pitures was pretty good and pulled in several channels. I did not notice the channels fading in and out too much while driving.

The tv has a USB input so you can hookup your portable DVD player or MP3 player to it. It has a headphone input for quiet listining.

Another nice feature is the flip out stand so it can be laid back at angle.

The second most impressing thing about this unit was the price factor. They have finally come down in price enough to where I can justify buying it.

Stopped working after three weeks. It did work at first and was very easy to set up and to put in the two included rechargeable Li-ion batteries. Batteries work right out of the box and do not need to be charged before putting them in. The included small antenna brought in about 30 channels, about 10 of them strong (I am in the Miami-FT. Lauderdale area). Picture was OK but not very bright. Sound was poor. However, after only three weeks of very moderate use, the picture started to flutter horizontally and then died, leaving only a curtain pattern. Now will not work from the batteries, A/C or car lighter.

Also, the docking station has a small door for the AA batteries that has a small plastic tongue to keep it closed. The tongue on the first DS broke very soon and I had to order another one. And then the tv stopped working. By the way, the recommended amplified antenna cannot even be connected to the tv. It has a coaxial connector, the tv does not.

Tivax HiRez7 Portable 7-Inch Digital Widescreen TV

I found this to be an excellent product. I live in Floride, so I purchased the optional docking station, which not only gives you better sound, but allows you to use AA battery’s to charge the unit and run the TV. I do not know of any other TV on the market, that will allow you to do this. We have not had an emergency situation yet, but if the power goes out I know I will have the use of the TV long after the internal battery’s run down, by just using AA battery’s. The few extra dollar’s that this unit cost, is well worth the piece of mind that it offers. In the last hurricane, that we had, I lost power for 4 days, and I sure wish I had this TV.

The TV itself,has an excellent picture,and my wife uses it every day in the powder room,as she puts on her make-up. It works great and we have not had any problems with it.

Solid product at a great price. Packaging is easy to open, product runs with acceptably-low power/heat draw, and performs to spec even under “burn-in” (high-load) conditions.

Currently running a matched pair of these SODIMMs in my MacBook Pro 15″ (2.4Ghz, early 2008), and it’s outstanding. Snow Leopard sees and allocates all 4GB RAM.

I was mistaken and ordered 2 of these for a friend that wanted to boost his RAM. I didn’t think ahead and thought he could handle 4GB. Apparently not, you can have a max of 2GB in an older Intel iBook (white). After I figured that out the ram (1 stick) worked very well. Boot times were significantly reduced and it breathed new life into the old iBook. Amazon did a fantastic job with the RMA.

Overall this is a good solid ram upgrade for your computer. Check with websites before you buy it though.

I bought two of these sticks for a total of 4GB RAM for my laptop. After about 2 months, one of the sticks stopped working. My laptop wouldn’t even start up with the bad stick in it. Needless to say, I tossed the bad stick in to the trash and put in one of my stock 1GB stick and my laptop started right up. Now I’m just waiting for the other stick to die too. I’m sticking with trusted brands like Crucial, Corsair and Kingston from now on.

I bought this to replace the 1GB stick in my Acer Aspire One D250. I wasn’t sure how well it would all work out just swapping the sticks especially since I’m running Ubuntu and not the default Windows XP install. However it couldn’t have been easier. I just swapped it and both my bios and Ubuntu detected the change right away and has been working great ever since.

This Acer model is a good value with the 250GB hard drive and longer life battery. The surface picks up fingerprints quite easily. The USB slots are a little tight. I purchased the recommended Crucial 2GB RAM upgrade because the 1 GB RAM standard made the processing slow, especially booting up. The Crucial module was a very tight fit but with enough pressure it finally seated. 2 GB RAM definitely made a difference.

THIS IS A TERRIFIC LITTLE COMPUTER WITHIN ITS LIMITATIONS. I wanted it mainly for traveling and as a backup for my Dell desktop computer. Weight was very important because I am a retired geezer and wanted to minimize what I have to lug around airports. I had gotten one of the early and tiny ASUS models which was pretty good but the 7″ screen, keyboard usable only by a 4-year old’s fingers and the oddball progam control were TOO lightweight for me. This Acer Aspire One 532H-2326 is just right.

I ADDED A 2ND GB OF RAM by following advice in an earlier post and installing the Crucial CT25664AC800 2GB 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 module. The hardest part of installation was getting the industrial strength plastic container open without harming the memory board. HINT FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NEVER INSTALLED A MEMORY CARD: go to crucial.com and find their instructions. The main thing is to avoid static electricity and they tell you exactly how. One little screw holds the memory compartment shut and the whole operation took under 5 minutes. Despite other posts, my Acer instruction book clearly says that this model accepts up to 2GB and it’s true.

THE TRULY ASTOUNDING BATTERY in this model delivers the stated 10 hours even after several cycles. It once lasted 14 hours including 4 hours of “sleep” in between work sessions. I DO RECOMMEND following the instructions and going through 2-3 complete charge/discharge cycles to season it.

SOFTWARE: I think I am fine with the WINDOWS 7 Starter which is fast, familiar and so far totally stable, and I don’t mind the one-and-only choice of Windows Blue wallpaper. I use this machine mainly for web surfing, email, simple photo work and keeping track of my daily investment losses while I am away from home. I think the included MS Works, Power Point Viewer and Adobe Reader will do fine for me. If not, a few more dollars will get me MS Office and a bigger version of Windows 7 but I figure the less overhead, the faster it will go. HINT FOR ADOBE READER: I initially had a problem getting Adobe Reader to start because the license agreement did not contain any “Accept” button. I finally figured out that I had increased the screen font size to 125% (remember, I’m a geezer). After I changed it back to the default tiny print (in Control Panel) the Accept button suddenly appeared and all is well.

THE KEYBOARD is perfectly fine for my wife. With my larger fingers it has taken me a while to get used to it. It will never equal a full sized keyboard but I can actually touch-type albeit with a few more errors than usual and I am more grateful for Spell Check.

IN SUMMARY this computer is not for dedicated gamers or heavy duty business use. It would probably be fine for most students, especially ones with small-to-medium size fingers, and perfectly suits my purpose of a lightweight travel computer for casual use. For the price you get a lot of computer.
